SUGAR CAMP CHAIN OF LAKES INFO: The Sugar Camp Chain of Lakes is a navigable and scenic 5 lake chain located between Eagle River and St. Germain. DAM LAKE is 744 acres with a maximum depth of 32 feet. SAND LAKE is 540 acres with a maximum depth of 25 feet. Both Dam Lake and Sand Lake are Class A Musky Lakes. CHAIN LAKE is 219 acres with a maximum depth of 19 feet. STONE LAKE is 188 acres and ECHO LAKE is 107 acres. There is a total of 2300 acres of water and cruising the breathtaking channels between the lakes is close to a Canadian experience. However, no passports are needed here. Come and enjoy the many bald eagles, ospreys and loons that nest along this waterway, don’t forget your camera. The chain is located within the American Legion State Forest and flows into the Rainbow Flowage which is accessible by canoe or kayak from Dam Lake. Most of the shoreline is privately owned or owned by the DNR so much still remains undeveloped. There are no public campgrounds and only a few resorts on the entire chain.

FISHING INFO:All species of fish are found in the chain: muskies, walleyes, northern pike, small mouth bass, giant crappies, bluegills, perch and other panfish (visit our photo album page). You will have success just fishing from the pier! Guide service is available. For the Winter sportsmen, ice fishing produces nice catches of every species and there is an ice fishing tournament on Dam Lake, sponsored by Knocker’s Bar and Deli, the first weekend in February and on Sand Lake, sponsored by the Sugar Camp Snowmobile Club, the third weekend in February.

SNOWMOBILING AND SNOW CONDITIONS IN EAGLE RIVER AND SILENT WINTER SPORTS: We are located in the Snowmobile Capital of the World. The Eagle River Headwaters, St. Germain Bo-Boen, and Sugar Camp snowmobile trails (popular trail 15) all merge at Dam Lake (home of Knocker’s - one of the snowmobilers’ favorite bars and deli) affording access to hundreds of miles of the best groomed and marked snowmobile trails in the country. Snow depths and trail conditions can be checked at: www.johndee.com We offer special priced 3 month Winter leases at some homes and have a heated garage available for any necessary repairs. Take the hassle out of towing those trailers in bad weather. Leave your trailers, sleds, gear, etc. Make one of our homes your home for the snowy Winter months and come and go as you please. Make it even more cost efficient by sharing the Winter lease with family or friends. For the quiet Winter sportsmen, there are also many cross country and downhill ski trails nearby. In January, Eagle River hosts the World Championship Snowmobile Derby and in February Snow Cross races and Klondike Days. PETS ALLOWED INFO: We are a pet friendly establishment and your small pets are welcome year around as long as our guests clean up after them and our pet policy is adhered to. Hunting dogs are also welcome during the hunting seasons.

LODGING INFO: Summer weeks run Saturday-Saturday only with check-in after 3 PM. Spring, Fall, and Winter scheduling can begin and end any day of the week with a 2- 3 day minimum. Check-in times are flexible during these seasons.
